We have many existing HART instrument throughout our plant that are considered critical. We have looked into AMS (Asset Management Software) and other HART management systems but their entry cost, and the cost of upgrading to smart I/O cards, is not in our budget. Is there a more economical way that we can gather this valuable HART data from the plant floor and analyze it with existing software and control systems?

Problem:

We have many existing HART instrument throughout our plant that are considered critical. We have looked into AMS (Asset Management Software) and other HART management systems but their entry cost, and the cost of upgrading to smart I/O cards, is not in our budget. Is there a more economical way that we can gather this valuable HART data from the plant floor and analyze it with existing software and control systems?

Solution:

The HIM (HART Interface and Monitor) reads the additional HART digital data from smart HART transmitters and offer analog, discrete and Modibus-RTU outputs. When the Modibus-RTU option is utilized the HIM essentially becomes a gateway, converting HART data to Modbis-RTU data. Then any HMI or software system that supports Modbus-RTU can access the additional HART data from plant floor transmitter. Alternatively Moore Industries offers an OPC ( OLE for Process Control ) Server that will convert the Modus-RTU data or POC for interfacing with OPC Clients.
