The Mekasentron UX150 Optical Flame Detector is an advanced, high-performance ultraviolet and infrared combined flame detection device engineered and manufactured by Mekasentron Inc. (Korea) – the pioneering company that localized flame detector production in South Korea. The unit is internationally certified under rigorous fire testing standards, including FM Approvals (FM 3260 standard - USA), alongside a comprehensive suite of explosion-proof certifications: IECEx, CE ATEX, KFI, KCs, and NEPSI.
The operating architecture of the Mekasentron UX150 combines a high-sensitivity Ultraviolet (UV) sensor with a specialized Infrared (IR) sensor. When a fire occurs, the detector simultaneously captures UV radiation and the characteristic IR radiation spectrum emitted by the combustion process. An internal high-speed microprocessor cross-correlates the dual spectral inputs and analyzes flame flicker frequency using proprietary digital signal processing algorithms. This dual-verification mechanism provides complete immunity against false alarms typically triggered by direct sunlight, arc welding, halogen lighting, lightning discharges, and hot body thermal radiation.
The Mekasentron UX150 is specialized for the detection of non-luminous, invisible Hydrogen (H2) flames, which produce zero smoke and cannot be detected by the naked eye under ambient light, while delivering comprehensive detection coverage for standard Hydrocarbon fuels (n-Heptane, gasoline, diesel, methane, alcohol, and industrial solvents). It provides a guaranteed detection distance of 15 meters for standard n-Heptane pan fires across an expansive 90° horizontal and vertical conical Field of View (FOV), with a rapid typical response time of just 5 seconds.
Mechanically, the UX150 is enclosed in a heavy-duty die-cast aluminium housing with a protective fire-red powder-coated finish, achieving IP66/IP67 ingress ratings against water jetting and particulate ingress across an ambient temperature range of -40°C to +75°C. With an explosion-proof classification of Ex db IIB+H2 Gb (T6), it is approved for continuous, safe deployment in Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas containing explosive hydrogen gas mixtures. Equipped with latching Fire Alarm relays, energized Fault Alarm relays, and an RS-485 serial communication port, it provides flexible integration into building fire alarm control panels or industrial SCADA/DCS networks.
